Storytelling
Storytelling has always proved to be very helpful in teaching children about the moral values. It has been practiced since ancient times and has played a major part in preserving the culture and the society we live in today. Storytelling generally consists of stories with interesting characters and amazing plot.
Most of the stories are folk stories that have been either preserved in forms of scriptures and texts written thousands of years ago or have been orally passed from one generation to another. The most important aspect of storytelling is the way it is delivered or narrated. In this article we will discuss about some Storytelling Examples or points which can prove to be very helpful for storytellers.
These are some of the Storytelling Examples:
Storytelling Tour- Students can form a group of three or four individuals and can go to other classes and narrate the stories to them.
Continuous Storytelling Session- In this method a story is narrated and then left to be continued for the next day or session. Next day the story is continued and when it ends, it is continued by another story. One of the most famous types of Storytelling Examples of this kind is the Arabian Nights.
Picture Story- In this method a picture is selected and the class is then instructed to form a paragraph or lines in relation to the picture. This process is repeated until a story is formed.
Stories in Songs- In this method the students of class are given a task to find a song which tells some famous story. For this purpose contemporary songs or folk songs are perfect. Once hearing the complete song, the student can tell the story in the song in his own words.
Stories related to Local History- In this method children can collect stories about their city or town from older people. They can generally find stories in relation to any famous person from their city or town and then can frame a story based on the facts collected.
